We're looking for a passionate entry-level Chemist to join the largest health care diagnostic company in the world as an important part of the 1st shift team. This role is a 3 month contract and provides exceptional experience with a well-known and admired company! The position is onsite in the Somerset Laboratory and is Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm.

What You'll Do:

The Laboratory Team is is seeking a science professional that is looking to use their science degree / background and receive on the job training working in a fast-paced BSL2 (Biosafety Level 2) Lab.

The Chemist conducts qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses within a SAMHSA-certified drug testing lab and CAP and CLIA-certified clinical laboratory that includes:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses for quality, process control, or to develop new products or knowledge.
  • Create new products or processes, or improve existing ones, for clients.
  • Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine physical and chemical properties, composition, structure, relationships and reactions.
  • Improve and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes and analytical methods.
  • Compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operational efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Write technical papers and reports, and prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products or tests.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds and reagents.
  • Confer with scientists and engineers to conduct analyses of research projects and assist in the interpretation of results.

What You'll Bring:

  • BS in Chemistry or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • A willingness to learn and 0-2 years of experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet established client and similar turnaround times.
  • Basic knowledge of the chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo.
  • Beginning ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
  • Effective project management and time management skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
