– 6 month Contract-to-Hire opportunity
– 2nd shift, Monday-Friday from 6:00pm – 2:30am
– Compensation for this position is anticipated to be approximately $20.00 – $23.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
What You'll Do:
The Clinical Lab Tech performs routine medical laboratory tests essential for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The Lab Tech role will include aspects such as:
- Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
- Examine stained cells to locate abnormalities.
- Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
- Set up, adjust and maintain medical laboratory equipment.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents and controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Assist with processing of specimens as needed.
What You'll Bring:
- BS in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or similar (MLT MT).
- Willingness to learn, or up to 2 years of experience in either internships or industry labs.
- Ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
- Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
