We're looking for a passionate entry-level Lab Assistant to join the largest health care diagnostic company in the world as an important part of the Lab team. This role is contract and provides exceptional experience and an opportunity to train and gain experience with a well-known and admired company! The position is onsite at the Overland Park, KS lab and is part of the Diagnostics area. Hours for the role are 3rd shift, Monday – Friday from 11:30pm – 8:00am.

What You'll Do:

The Lab Assistant I works in a certified clinical lab with medical laboratory tests essential for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, and typically works with Lab Technicians, Medical Technicians and Medical Technologists. The Lab Assistant role will include aspects such as:

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor lab instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Complete record logs and similar items as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.

What You'll Bring:

• AS in Biology, Chemistry or a related Science field.
• Willingness to learn, or up to 1 year of lab experience.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• *Candidates selected for the role must pass a standardized color blindness test.
