We're looking for a passionate entry-level Clinical Lab Tech to join the largest health care diagnostic company in the world as an important part of the 1st shift team. This role is a 6 month contract and provides exceptional experience and an opportunity to learn in an accredited lab with a well-known and admired company! The position is Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
What You'll Do:
The Lab Tech performs routine medical laboratory tests essential for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The Lab Tech role will include aspects such as:
Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
Examine stained cells to locate abnormalities.
Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
Set up, adjust and maintain medical laboratory equipment.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents and controls.
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Assist with processing of specimens as needed.
What You'll Bring:
AS or BS in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or similar life science degree from an accredited university.
Willingness to learn, or up to 2 years of experience.
Ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
Solid verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
