Carex is partnering with a public health firm to hire a Senior Advisor, Public Health Data & Program Strategy. This is a remote role based in the U.S. with an expectation to work Eastern Time hours and occasional travel to Boston. The Senior Advisor serves as an embedded advisor for a statewide public health data solutions initiative, acting as a counterpart to technical program leadership. This role ensures public health program priorities, operational realities, and policy considerations are clearly defined and effectively translated into system design and implementation decisions. This position brings a strong public health informatics perspective, bridging public health practice, data governance, and technology delivery to support surveillance, environmental health, and other core public health functions. The Senior Advisor partners closely with leadership, technical teams, and vendors to align priorities, surface assumptions, and guide informed decision-making across domains. Candidates must come from a public health informatics/data background and be a SME in Salesforce Public Sector Solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the central coordination point for public health program stakeholders, ensuring business needs inform system design and functionality

  • Translate between public health operations, data architecture, and technical implementation to ensure accurate representation of workflows

  • Lead business-side project enablement, including planning, dependency management, milestone tracking, and delivery oversight

  • Maintain project documentation including timelines, risks, decision logs, and leadership updates

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT project managers, developers, data architects, and vendors to ensure alignment across workstreams

  • Support governance processes, leadership briefings, and escalation of key risks or decisions

  • Monitor and manage project budgets, including forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting

  • Translate policy, regulatory, and programmatic requirements into system and data specifications

  • Analyze current public health workflows and design future-state processes optimized for integrated digital systems

  • Support change management efforts including training, communication, and organizational readiness

  • Identify and resolve misalignments across stakeholders to prevent downstream issues

  • Partner with technical teams to ensure solutions reflect modern data practices, including interoperability and standardized data models

What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Health Informatics, Information Systems, Public Administration, or related field

  • 7–12+ years of experience advising on complex programs at the intersection of public health and data initiatives

  • Demonstrated experience applying public health informatics principles to system design or implementation

  • Experience in advisory, strategy, or translational roles within multi-stakeholder environments

  • Strong understanding of state and local public health operations and ability to translate program needs into technical requirements

  • Working knowledge of modern data concepts such as interoperability, data lakes, and standardized data models

  • Proven ability to facilitate complex conversations and align stakeholders with differing priorities

  • Experience with public sector data modernization initiatives (preferred)

  • Familiarity with public health data standards and systems (e.g., HL7, FHIR, surveillance systems) (preferred)

  • Exposure to agile or hybrid delivery environments

  • Experience with CRM-based public sector platforms such as Salesforce Public Sector Solutions or similar tools (preferred)

  • Project or program management certification (preferred)
