Data Architect

Summary
Carex is partnering with a financial services industry partner to hire a Data Architect. This role will lead the design and evolution of modern enterprise data architecture strategies that support scalable, secure, and high-performing data ecosystems. The ideal candidate brings deep experience within insurance and financial services environments, strong expertise across the Microsoft data stack including Fabric, Databricks, and Snowflake, and hands-on experience building modern data products and MVPs leveraging Agentic AI for data management. This individual will collaborate across business and technology teams to drive enterprise-wide data initiatives, modernize legacy environments, and enable data-driven decision making.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement modern enterprise data architectures that support scalable, secure, and cost-effective data platforms and solutions
  • Establish future-state data architecture blueprints aligned to enterprise business goals and strategic data initiatives
  • Lead architecture efforts for data products, data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-native environments
  • Develop conceptual and logical data models that promote consistency, standardization, and reusability across the organization
  • Drive enterprise data integration strategies across multiple systems and platforms
  • Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to implement scalable data storage and management solutions
  • Build and maintain architecture documentation including data models, lineage, standards, and data flow diagrams
  • Establish and enforce data governance, lineage, security, and quality management standards
  • Ensure architectural alignment with enterprise compliance, governance, and security requirements
  • Evaluate and recommend modern technologies and tools that improve data engineering and analytics capabilities
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and MVP development efforts related to AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI applications within data management
  • Collaborate closely with AI and innovation teams to identify opportunities for AI-enabled data modernization
  • Assess and modernize legacy systems while driving ongoing technology debt reduction initiatives
  • Serve as a technical advisor to business and technology stakeholders on enterprise data strategy and architecture best practices
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization to deliver enterprise data initiatives
  • Mentor junior data engineers and architects, fostering technical growth and architectural best practices across the team

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong experience in data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, and enterprise data platform design
  • Deep domain expertise within insurance and financial services environments
  • Expertise with Microsoft data technologies including Fabric, Azure, Data Factory, Power BI, and Copilot
  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and modern cloud-based data platforms
  • Experience building scalable enterprise data products and modern data ecosystems
  • Practical experience building MVPs leveraging Agentic AI and GenAI technologies for data management and operational efficiencies
  • Strong understanding of modern data architecture concepts including cloud-native solutions, real-time data distribution, metadata management, and enterprise governance
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL, NoSQL, and enterprise data modeling tools
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise data governance and data quality frameworks
  • Ability to assess both traditional and modern data architecture approaches and recommend scalable solutions
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence technical and executive audiences
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and mentor technical teams
  • Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Fabric certifications, or Certified Data Management Professional are a plus
