Carex is partnering with an EHR/RCM platform healthtech startup partner to hire a Director of Revenue Cycle Management based in New York City. This role will lead and scale a technology-enabled RCM operation with a strong focus on process optimization, operational rigor, and the integration of AI. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 10 RCM professionals while driving measurable improvements in billing, collections, denials, and overall revenue cycle performance. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, energized by solving complex operational challenges, and excited to help transform how revenue cycle functions operate in a modern, AI-enabled environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and continuously improve end-to-end revenue cycle management operations, including billing, collections, denials, and reimbursement performance
  • Lead, structure, and develop a team of approximately 10 RCM professionals, driving accountability and performance
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, workflows, and performance expectations to optimize productivity
  • Dive deeply into operational processes to identify bottlenecks, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions
  • Redesign workflows and processes leveraging AI and automation where appropriate
  • Partner closely with product and technology teams to support development and enhancement of RCM tools and platforms
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, improve reimbursement outcomes, and optimize operational efficiency
  • Build scalable processes to support ongoing organizational and client growth
  • Develop and maintain reporting on key RCM KPIs, including claims performance, denials, collections, and productivity metrics
  • Foster a high-energy, results-oriented team culture with clear expectations and strong engagement
  • Act as both a strategic and operational leader, translating complex RCM challenges into executable plans

What You’ll Bring

  • Significant experience in revenue cycle management, healthcare operations, or healthcare infrastructure
  • Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading and optimizing operational or back-office teams
  • Deep understanding of RCM workflows, challenges, and best practices
  • Proven ability to improve processes, manage workloads, and establish accountability structures
  • Strong interest in AI and technology-driven transformation within healthcare operations
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, or digital tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable engaging at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
  • Experience in healthcare consulting, RCM operations, or related infrastructure preferred
  • Exposure to private equity, banking, or investment environments within healthcare is a plus
  • Experience building or scaling an RCM function or implementing AI-enabled RCM technologies is highly desirable
