  • Job #6305

Carex is partnering with an enterprise developer platform partner to hire a Paid Search & Performance Marketing Manager. This is a remote opportunity for candidates located in Wisconsin or Texas. This role is designed for a true hands-on performance marketing operator. The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist and builder: someone who enjoys being in the weeds, rolling up their sleeves, and personally creating, optimizing, troubleshooting, and scaling paid acquisition programs. Success in this position comes from direct ownership of campaign performance, not managing agencies or delegating execution to a large team.

The organization serves a diverse customer base across industries, company sizes, and geographies, including commercial enterprises and public sector organizations. The Paid Search & Performance Marketing Manager will bring deep expertise in paid search and digital advertising, while collaborating with leadership and subject matter experts who provide strong market, customer, and messaging insights. This is a highly autonomous role with strategic influence and direct accountability. The person in this position will help shape paid acquisition strategy while personally executing the work required to drive results.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct a comprehensive audit of all existing paid search and digital advertising efforts, identifying what should be scaled, optimized, rebuilt, tested, or discontinued.
  • Personally create, launch, manage, and optimize campaigns across Google Ads, Microsoft/Bing Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and other relevant paid channels.
  • Own keyword research, campaign architecture, ad group structure, match types, negative keywords, bidding strategies, budget allocation, targeting, conversion tracking, and ongoing performance optimization.
  • Be actively engaged in advertising platforms every day, monitoring performance and making data-driven adjustments in real time.
  • Diagnose underperforming campaigns and identify the specific factors impacting results, then implement improvements quickly and independently.
  • Build, test, and refine audience strategies, messaging, landing page approaches, bidding models, channel mix, and conversion optimization initiatives.
  • Manage paid media budgets and make recommendations on where marketing investments should increase, decrease, or stop based on performance data.
  • Develop search strategies that improve visibility for high-intent and revenue-generating search opportunities.
  • Translate customer insights, market positioning, and industry expertise into campaigns that drive qualified pipeline and revenue.
  • Partner with leadership, designers, copywriters, and subject matter experts to improve campaign effectiveness and messaging performance.
  • Establish and maintain attribution frameworks that connect marketing spend to business outcomes rather than vanity metrics.
  • Monitor performance dashboards and maintain deep familiarity with key acquisition metrics across the funnel.
  • Identify opportunities to rapidly test new ideas and scale successful initiatives.
  • Investigate emerging opportunities related to generative engine optimization (GEO), LLM visibility, AI discovery platforms, and future AI-based advertising channels.
  • Create a clear roadmap for improving paid acquisition performance and visibility across both traditional and emerging search environments.
  • Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution, moving seamlessly between high-level discussions and detailed campaign management.

What You'll Bring

  • 5-10 years of hands-on paid search, PPC, or performance marketing experience, preferably within software, technology, or SaaS environments.
  • Demonstrated experience personally executing and optimizing campaigns rather than primarily managing agencies, vendors, or large teams.
  • Deep expertise with Google Ads, including campaign structure, keyword strategy, match types, negative keywords, bidding, budget management, testing, and conversion optimization.
  • Strong experience managing Microsoft/Bing Ads and LinkedIn Ads campaigns.
  • A proven track record of improving campaign performance through direct analysis, execution, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of attribution, analytics, conversion tracking, and performance measurement.
  • Ability to identify issues quickly, determine the highest-impact adjustments, and implement solutions independently.
  • Comfort operating in a highly autonomous environment without extensive processes or large support teams.
  • Ability to communicate performance insights and recommendations clearly to leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • A bias toward action, experimentation, and continuous optimization.
  • Genuine enjoyment of being hands-on in advertising platforms, analytics tools, and campaign operations.
  • Residence in Texas or Wisconsin.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience marketing developer-focused, highly technical, or developer-adjacent products.
  • Experience within B2B SaaS environments with longer enterprise sales cycles.
  • Experience marketing to regulated industries such as government, healthcare, or financial services.
  • Familiarity with GEO, LLM visibility strategies, and AI-powered discovery platforms.
  • Exposure to emerging advertising opportunities within AI ecosystems.
  • Experience working in smaller organizations where strategy and execution are owned by the same individual.
