Carex is partnering with a fast-growing Series A healthtech startup to hire a Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Operator who will play a key role in shaping, optimizing, and scaling the revenue cycle capabilities of an AI-powered healthcare technology platform. This role combines deep RCM expertise with product collaboration, customer engagement, and operational problem-solving. The ideal candidate understands the complexities of healthcare billing and payor contracting and can translate that knowledge into effective workflows, product improvements, and scalable solutions. Working at the intersection of revenue cycle operations, technology, and customer success, this individual will serve as an RCM subject matter expert, helping ensure the platform meets the real-world needs of behavioral health organizations. This is a highly hands-on, cross-functional role requiring strong ownership, adaptability, and the ability to solve complex revenue cycle challenges while directly influencing product development. Ideally looking for candidates that come from an RCM consulting background. This is an onsite role in NYC.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a revenue cycle management subject matter expert, helping shape and optimize RCM functionality across an AI-powered healthcare technology platform.

  • Evaluate customer billing workflows, identify operational inefficiencies, and translate business requirements into effective platform configurations and product enhancements.

  • Review and interpret payor contracts, reimbursement structures, and billing requirements to inform operational and product decisions.

  • Partner closely with product and engineering teams to develop, test, troubleshoot, and refine RCM features and capabilities.

  • Guide customers through RCM-related platform setup, workflow configuration, training, and go-live activities.

  • Investigate and resolve complex billing issues, claims denials, accounts receivable exceptions, and reimbursement discrepancies.

  • Analyze explanations of benefits (EOBs), denial trends, and claims processing challenges to identify root causes and recommend solutions.

  • Develop and deliver RCM training to help customers effectively adopt platform capabilities and improve revenue cycle performance.

  • Support sales engineering efforts by providing RCM expertise during product demonstrations, customer discussions, and technical evaluations.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to streamline billing processes, reduce administrative burden, and improve revenue cycle efficiency.

  • Document customer feedback, operational challenges, and workflow improvements to establish repeatable processes and inform product development.

  • Collaborate across customer-facing, product, and technical teams to ensure RCM solutions align with evolving customer needs.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2–6 years of revenue cycle management experience within healthcare consulting, healthcare technology, or a provider organization.

  • Deep understanding of healthcare billing workflows, payor contracting, claims management, denial resolution, and accounts receivable processes.

  • Experience working with behavioral health billing operations, reimbursement requirements, or provider organizations strongly preferred.

  • Ability to interpret EOBs, recognize denial patterns, troubleshoot reimbursement issues, and determine appropriate corrective actions.

  • Experience working with healthcare technology platforms, billing systems, or RCM software to improve operational workflows.

  • Strong understanding of how payor contract terms influence billing processes, system requirements, and revenue cycle performance.

  • Ability to collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate operational challenges into practical technology solutions.

  • Experience working directly with customers to assess needs, troubleshoot issues, deliver training, and improve platform adoption.

  • Proficiency with AI tools and a proactive approach to using automation to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex billing scenarios and explain solutions clearly.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities and a high degree of ambiguity.

  • A hands-on, ownership-driven mindset with the initiative to identify problems, develop solutions, and drive improvements independently.

  • Ability to balance strategic product thinking with detailed operational execution and customer-facing responsibilities.
