Carex is partnering with a Biotech industry partner to identify an experienced SAP Digital Manufacturing Techno-Functional Consultant to support the design, configuration, integration, and deployment of SAP Digital Manufacturing capabilities within a complex, regulated manufacturing environment. This role requires strong functional knowledge of manufacturing execution processes combined with hands-on SAP Digital Manufacturing configuration and integration expertise.
The consultant will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Production Planning, Warehouse, Regulatory, Validation, and Master Data stakeholders to translate shop floor requirements into scalable SAP DM solutions. Key areas of focus include production execution, Electronic Batch Records (EBRs), material consumption and goods receipt, work instructions, traceability, quality processes, and integration with SAP S/4HANA and other enterprise systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support SAP Digital Manufacturing design, configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering and process-design workshops with Manufacturing, Quality, Production Planning, Warehouse, Regulatory, Validation/CSV, and Master Data teams.
- Assess and document current-state manufacturing processes, including paper batch records, work instructions, manual signatures, material movements, and shop floor execution.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into future-state SAP DM processes and functional designs.
- Configure SAP DM foundational and execution capabilities, including plants, work centers, resources, production processes, and shop floor execution.
- Configure and optimize Production Operator Dashboards (PODs), Production Process Designer (PPD), Data Collection Groups, and Data Collection Parameters.
- Design and configure Electronic Batch Record processes, electronic signatures, operator guidance, and digital work instructions.
- Support production order and process order execution, including dispatching, material consumption, goods receipt, labor tracking, scrap, rework, and deviations.
- Configure and support material traceability, batch genealogy, and batch management processes.
- Design manufacturing processes that support non-conformance management, quality inspections, and regulated production requirements.
- Support phase-based manufacturing execution and integration with SAP S/4HANA manufacturing processes.
- Define and validate integration requirements between SAP DM and SAP S/4HANA for process orders, master recipes, BOMs, materials, production versions, inspection plans, batch data, and inventory transactions.
- Support integration of master recipes and SAP DM work instructions, inspection plans, material staging, and process order execution.
- Collaborate on integrations involving SAP EWM, SAP QM, SAP PP/DS, QMS platforms, barcode/scanner solutions, and label-printing systems.
- Support SAP BTP, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Integration Suite/CPI, APIs, OAuth 2.0 authentication, and event-based integration patterns.
- Partner with technical teams to troubleshoot interfaces, data flows, connectivity, and execution issues across SAP DM and connected systems.
- Configure and support SAP DM user roles, authorizations, and appropriate shop floor access.
- Ensure SAP DM designs account for manufacturing controls, traceability, electronic records, and applicable regulatory and validation requirements.
- Develop functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, test scenarios, and supporting implementation documentation.
- Participate in functional testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, validation activities, deployment, and post-go-live support.
What You'll Bring
- Strong hands-on experience implementing and configuring SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM) in production environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of process manufacturing and/or discrete manufacturing business processes.
- Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and shop floor execution.
- Experience with Electronic Batch Records (EBRs), digital work instructions, electronic signatures, and operator guidance.
- Hands-on SAP DM configuration experience involving plants, work centers, resources, Production Operator Dashboards, Production Process Designer, Data Collection Groups, and Data Collection Parameters.
- Experience configuring production execution, order dispatching, labor tracking, material consumption, goods receipt, scrap, rework, and phase-based manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of material traceability, batch genealogy, batch management, and production order execution.
- Experience supporting quality inspections, deviations, rework, and non-conformance processes within manufacturing environments.
- Strong SAP S/4HANA integration knowledge, particularly involving process orders, master recipes, BOMs, materials, production versions, inspection plans, batch management, and inventory transactions.
- Experience integrating SAP DM with SAP S/4HANA and related manufacturing and supply chain applications.
- Knowledge of SAP BTP, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Integration Suite/CPI, OAuth authentication, API management, and event-based integration concepts.
- Experience or strong working knowledge of SAP EWM, SAP QM, SAP PP/DS, and QMS integrations.
- Familiarity with barcode scanners, shop floor devices, and label-printing integrations.
- Experience conducting manufacturing requirements workshops and translating operational requirements into SAP DM designs and configurations.
- Strong process-mapping skills with the ability to document AS-IS and TO-BE manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional Manufacturing, Quality, Production Planning, Warehouse, Regulatory, Validation/CSV, and Master Data stakeholders.
- Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments governed by requirements such as FDA, ISO 13485, and GxP.
- Understanding of validation, traceability, data integrity, and electronic record requirements in regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
