Carex is partnering with a healthtech industry partner to hire a Senior Systems Administrator & Endpoint Engineer to oversee core IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365 administration, and endpoint management across a fully remote organization. This role combines hands-on technical support with infrastructure ownership, supporting a diverse Windows and macOS environment while improving security, automation, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive, service-oriented IT professional who enjoys solving problems, supporting internal employees, and building scalable processes in a growing environment. This is an opportunity to help establish a dedicated infrastructure function with potential for future leadership growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for internal IT support, troubleshooting complex hardware, software, access, and connectivity issues while delivering an exceptional employee experience.

  • Manage and support a diverse endpoint environment consisting of approximately 50% Windows and 50% macOS devices.

  • Design, deploy, and maintain endpoint configuration, security, and compliance policies using Microsoft Intune and Apple MDM solutions such as Kandji, Iru, or similar platforms.

  • Oversee automated patch management and vulnerability remediation using Action1 or comparable tools to maintain secure, reliable, and up-to-date endpoints.

  • Administer identity and access management processes, including user provisioning, security groups, conditional access policies, and license management.

  • Support developer-facing macOS environments, including terminal-based utilities, package management, and software governance solutions such as Workbrew.

  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive IT tasks, standardize device configurations, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Partner with DevOps and technical teams to establish clear infrastructure ownership, improve documentation, and implement scalable IT processes.

  • Monitor endpoint compliance and security posture, proactively identifying risks and implementing appropriate remediation strategies.

  • Help establish foundational IT infrastructure practices, policies, and procedures to support continued organizational growth.

  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for employees, balancing hands-on troubleshooting with longer-term infrastructure improvements and strategic initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2–4+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments, including Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.

  • Strong experience supporting and troubleshooting both Windows and macOS operating systems in a professional environment.

  • Practical experience with endpoint management and MDM platforms, including Microsoft Intune and Apple-focused solutions such as Jamf, Kandji, Iru, or similar technologies.

  • Experience managing device configurations, compliance policies, software deployments, and endpoint lifecycle processes.

  • Familiarity with automated patch management and vulnerability remediation solutions such as Action1 or comparable platforms.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, identity management, and cloud-based applications.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service mindset and a genuine interest in helping internal employees succeed.

  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical challenges, and manage competing priorities in a fully remote environment.

  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies, improve processes, and contribute wherever needed in a growing organization.

  • A collaborative, approachable personality with the ability to work effectively across technical teams and with nontechnical employees.

  • Familiarity with macOS terminal commands, package management, and developer tooling workflows.

  • Strong organizational skills and an interest in building documentation, establishing standards, and creating repeatable IT processes.

  • Nice to have: Experience with endpoint security, Azure security services, Microsoft Sentinel, or cloud security platforms such as Wiz.

  • Nice to have: Familiarity with Workbrew, Homebrew, or enterprise software governance for macOS.

  • Nice to have: Experience helping establish or mature an internal IT infrastructure function within a smaller or growing organization.

  • Nice to have: Interest in mentoring others and potentially growing into a technical leadership role as the team expands.
