Carex is partnering with a biotech industry partner to identify a Senior Scrum Master (Lab / LIS) for a 12-month contract. This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced agile practitioner with deep expertise in software delivery and lab informatics, capable of guiding teams through both the enhancement of established laboratory technologies and the development of new solutions. This individual will work closely with Product, Engineering, Quality, and Lab leaders to enable effective delivery, foster continuous improvement, and ensure alignment between team execution and business outcomes in complex laboratory and diagnostics environments.

What You'll Do

  • Establish, evolve, and optimize Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban practices based on team and organizational needs.
  • Enable transparency, inspection, and adaptation while fostering self-managing, high-performing teams.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Quality, and Lab leaders to align delivery efforts with customer and business value.
  • Support digital product and software development teams using flow-based delivery principles and empiricism.
  • Utilize metrics such as throughput, cycle time, work item age, work in progress, and cumulative flow diagrams to identify constraints and improve delivery effectiveness.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and cultivate a culture of learning and adaptability.
  • Guide teams through the unique challenges associated with sustaining and enhancing commercial laboratory technology products.
  • Support the development and launch of new lab informatics solutions intended for future market release.
  • Navigate regulatory, operational, and innovation considerations within healthcare technology and laboratory environments.
  • Influence stakeholders and teams without relying on formal authority to drive effective collaboration and delivery outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • Significant experience serving as a Scrum Master supporting digital product and software development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, and flow-based delivery principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and evolve agile practices to meet changing team and organizational needs.
  • Experience leveraging delivery metrics, including throughput, cycle time, work item age, work in progress, and cumulative flow diagrams.
  • Proven ability to influence and coach teams and stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Quality, and Lab leaders to deliver business value.
  • Meaningful experience with lab informatics and familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), laboratory information management systems (LIMS), or other commercial laboratory technology products.
  • Experience supporting teams developing lab informatics solutions for future market release.
  • Understanding of the challenges associated with healthcare technology, laboratory operations, and regulated environments.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Ability to foster adaptable, collaborative, and learning-oriented teams.
