Carex is partnering with a Distribution Industry partner to find a highly skilled HCL Websphere Portal Consultant with deep expertise in HCL WebSphere Portal 9. This will be a part time remote consulting role that will require ad-hoc consulting availability to triage outages as they occur.
This role will play a critical part in identifying and resolving instability issues, with a strong focus on system diagnostics, upgrades, and long-term stability improvements. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical proficiency and a flexible, consultative mindset to support a complex and high-priority environment.
What You’ll Do

Diagnose and address ongoing HCL WebSphere Portal 9 instability, identifying root causes across servers, networks, and system configurations.

Troubleshoot WebSphere Portal issues, provide expert analysis, and offer immediate and long-term remediation strategies.

Conduct system health checks and optimize configurations to enhance diagnostic capabilities.

Deliver recommendations for upgrades and improvements to support long-term system health and reduce outages.

Provide ad hoc and off-hours support, including participation in war room calls during early morning outages.

Communicate technical findings and strategic guidance to IT leadership effectively.
What You’ll Bring

Demonstrated Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in HCL WebSphere Portal, specifically version 9.

Proven experience with WebSphere Portal administration, configuration, and performance tuning.

Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in high-complexity environments.

Experience working with clustered systems; familiarity with Nutanix infrastructure is preferred.

Understanding of SQL Server and DB2 (iSeries) database environments.

Ability to work in a flexible, on-call model and respond to critical issues with urgency.

Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.

Prior exposure to war room or rapid-response IT support scenarios is highly desirable.
