Carex is partnering with a Manufacturing industry partner to find a qualified Software Engineer to support a range of defense-related projects. This role involves developing software solutions across the full product lifecycle in a collaborative engineering environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and external partners, to ensure successful project execution. A self-starter with strong technical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement will thrive in this position. This is a hybrid role based out of New Hudson, MI.
This role does require prior experience working on defense projects, and the ability to obtain security clearance (must be US Citizen).
What You’ll Do

Design, implement, verify, and deliver high-quality software solutions independently and as part of a team

Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to support software components of defense initiatives

Adhere to best practices and established patterns for software development and solution delivery

Contribute to solution architecture, design, and technology selection

Participate in stakeholder requirements sessions, providing technical insight and proposed solutions

Conduct and support code reviews, design evaluations, and product requirement discussions

Apply agile methodologies to optimize development workflows and team performance

Stay informed on current technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation

Work effectively with internal stakeholders and external/remote partners across engineering functions

Demonstrate a problem-solving mindset and entrepreneurial approach in technical challenges
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)

5+ years of experience in software engineering or a related technical domain

Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C++, Java, and .NET

Strong understanding of software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and version control

Experience working within Agile frameworks and prototype-driven environments

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
-
Prior experience in the defense or aerospace industry is a plus

Exposure to simulation tools and defense-specific requirements or DoD projects is beneficial

Strong collaboration and communication skills to work across internal and external teams
