Project Engineer – Mechanical (Hybrid in Oshkosh, Wisconsin)
Summary
Carex is partnering with a Manufacturing industry partner to find two Project Engineers – Mechanical. This role is based in Wisconsin and requires a hybrid schedule (onsite Tuesday–Thursday – Oshkosh, WI). The Project Engineer will contribute to new product development, verification testing, and prototype phase engineering. This position requires U.S. citizenship and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with at least five years of relevant experience.
This is a 6mo contract opportunity with potential for extension.
What You’ll Do

Lead and manage DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) documentation, including identification of potential failure modes, risk assessment, and proposing mitigations.

Drive and participate in DFMEA reviews with cross-functional engineering teams.

Develop and manage DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), including coordination of testing, development, and builds.

Carry designs through verification testing and contribute to detailed design reviews.

Support prototype phase engineering, including preparation for design reviews and verification activities.

Coordinate prototype builds, including documentation of issues and collaboration on solutions.

Manage change notices, release processes, and related documentation.

Collaborate with engineering, design, and technician teams to ensure successful project execution.

Provide technical input on design, integration, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and components.

Ensure compliance with engineering standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) and at least 5 years of related experience.

U.S. citizenship (required).

Direct experience creating, managing, and leading DFMEA efforts with cross-functional teams.

Hands-on experience with DVP&R, including test, development, or build coordination.

Strong background in verification testing and detailed design reviews.

Experience supporting new product development in prototype phases.

Familiarity with CREO and Windchill CAD tools for drawings, workflows, and change notices.

Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to lead technical discussions.

(Preferred) Prior experience in defense or automotive new product development.

(Preferred) Hands-on experience in build coordination and production floor issue resolution.
