Carex is partnering with a BioTech industry partner to hire a Histotechnologist I in Phoenix, AZ!

Summary
We are seeking a Histotechnologist I to join a CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology laboratory in Phoenix, AZ. This role is responsible for performing a variety of histology laboratory procedures to produce tissue slides and support general laboratory operations. The Histotechnologist I will follow established safety and quality standards while gaining proficiency across histology, pathology, and molecular functions needed to support laboratory workflows.

What You’ll Do

  • Label and document FFPE blocks, slides, and tubes in accordance with SOPs.

  • Perform tissue processing, fixation, sectioning, embedding, and H&E staining for FF and FFPE samples.

  • Prepare and conduct DNA and RNA extraction procedures following established protocols.

  • Accession, label, and enter sample information into the LIS system accurately.

  • Assist with quality review of incoming specimens and ensure proper filing and storage of slides and tissue blocks.

  • Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment; complete preventive maintenance and quality control documentation.

  • Perform routine and non-routine histology techniques, including microdissection and reagent preparation.

  • Collaborate with pathologists and lab staff to ensure timely and high-quality specimen processing.

  • Participate in training and provide technical assistance to team members as needed.

  • Monitor and complete tasks in the histology queue with minimal supervision.

  • Support adherence to regulatory and organizational quality standards, including CLIA and CAP.

What You’ll Bring

  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program with 2+ years of laboratory experience (one year from program completion may count).

    • Or Associate Degree in a scientific field with 2+ years of laboratory experience.

    • Or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with histology processes and laboratory equipment (e.g., microtomes, microscopes, blades, pipettes).

  • Basic computer skills, including LIS usage, internet navigation, and email.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform repetitive fine-motor tasks and visually detailed work with precision.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active ASCP Board of Certification (HT or HTL).

  • 1+ years of experience in a histology laboratory performing techniques such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, H&E staining, and troubleshooting (ASCP certification may count as 1 year of experience).
