Carex is partnering with a mission driven wellness/SDoH startup industry partner to hire their founding Head of Sales. Ideally this person will be located in Los Angeles or in PST time zone. The Head of Sales will lead the growth and expansion of health plan partnerships, focusing on Medicaid, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage organizations. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire sales lifecycle—from lead generation and communicating value propositions, to closing contracts—while aligning sales efforts with health plan priorities and outcomes. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Sales will play a pivotal leadership role in building a high-performing sales function that supports company growth through tech-enabled healthcare solutions involving medically curated groceries, health coaching, and care navigation. What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a nationwide sales strategy to drive health plan expansion and meet growth goals

  • Define qualification criteria to build and manage a robust and targeted sales pipeline

  • Leverage existing industry relationships and creative outreach methods to identify and nurture prospects

  • Clearly articulate the company’s offerings and value across multiple communication channels (email, phone, video, in-person)

  • Utilize CRM systems to build and maintain long-term relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders

  • Guide prospective partners through the full sales lifecycle, earning trust and securing contracts

  • Translate organizational OKRs into team-level goals and track sales funnel milestones using a performance dashboard

  • Build and scale a sales team that aligns with company values and supports ongoing growth

  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and career development opportunities to the sales team

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with internal teams including Marketing, Product, Operations, and Customer Success

  • Work with Marketing to develop sales materials for outreach, events, and campaigns

  • Provide actionable market feedback to continuously improve the product and sales approach

  • Stay informed on industry best practices, trends in payer and provider spaces, and competitor positioning

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated success selling into Medicaid, Medicare, and health systems

  • Proven experience developing enterprise sales pipelines for large healthcare organizations

  • Background in digital health, SDoH solutions, population health, or tech-enabled healthcare services

  • Prior experience building and leading a sales function at a high-growth, venture-backed startup

  • Strong communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to interpret market signals and pivot sales strategies as needed

  • Executive presence and the ability to engage credibly with C-level healthcare leaders
