Position Overview
Carex is partnering with a healthcare-focused organization to identify a Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional IT and healthcare technology initiatives. This role is ideal for a seasoned PM with experience in healthcare or healthcare-adjacent industries, strong familiarity with IT delivery, and exposure to Epic or Epic-integrated systems.
The Project Manager will oversee initiatives that may include Epic-related functionality launches, IT delivery supporting major commercial product launches, and other enterprise healthcare technology projects. While on-site work is not required, candidates located in or near Madison, WI are preferred to support collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
This role partners closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and aligned with organizational strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic business partner, leading and influencing cross-functional teams to deliver complex healthcare IT projects.

Own end-to-end project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.

Apply established project management best practices, including governance, issue/risk management, and change control.

Collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, funding, and delivery approach.

Lead teams through SDLC-based and Agile project environments, selecting the appropriate delivery model based on project needs.

Manage projects that may include Epic systems, Epic integrations, or downstream system impacts.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve delivery challenges related to coordination, development, or design.

Proactively escalate risks and issues while maintaining strong awareness of project health and progress.

Prepare and present clear, concise status reporting on milestones, deliverables, risks, and deviations from plan.

Advise stakeholders on appropriate project and program governance.

Coach and guide teams on project management tools and techniques (e.g., process mapping, value stream mapping, root cause analysis).

Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Effectively balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects in a matrixed environment.

Ensure compliance with the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree OR high school diploma/GED with 4 additional years of relevant experience.

5+ years of progressive, broad-based project management experience.

3+ years in a client-facing project management role.

Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.

Proficiency with MS Project, MS Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong communication, facilitation, influence, and presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively within a matrix management organization.

Preferred / Desired Experience

Experience in healthcare or healthcare-adjacent industries.
