Carex is partnering with a healthcare industry partner to identify an EHR Transition QA Lead responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end quality and testing strategy for a large-scale enterprise EHR transition. This role serves as the single point of accountability for solution quality and go-live readiness, working horizontally across all clinical, operational, and technical workstreams to ensure system configuration, integrations, workflows, data, and real-world use cases are thoroughly tested and validated prior to deployment. The EHR Transition QA Lead balances delivery timelines with patient safety, operational readiness, and system stability while providing clear executive-level insight into quality and risk.
What You’ll Do
- Own and maintain the enterprise EHR transition test strategy, including test phases, scope, environments, quality gates, and entry/exit criteria
- Develop and manage comprehensive test plans covering configuration testing, functional and system testing, end-to-end and cross-workstream workflow testing, integration and interface testing, data conversion and validation, regression and performance testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Ensure testing activities align with program milestones, readiness checkpoints, and go-live criteria
- Lead configuration testing across all EHR modules to validate alignment with approved future-state workflows, governance decisions, and clinical, operational, regulatory, and reporting requirements
- Partner with workstream leads, clinical SMEs, operations teams, and the EHR vendor to define test scenarios, expected outcomes, and role-based end-to-end workflows
- Establish configuration testing as a formal quality gate prior to integrated testing and UAT, identifying defects early and ensuring timely remediation and re-validation
- Collaborate closely with all program workstreams to coordinate test sequencing, dependencies, shared scenarios, and traceability from design decisions through validation
- Oversee execution of all testing cycles across environments, serving as the single point of accountability for testing across the EHR program
- Establish and manage defect tracking, prioritization, triage, and resolution processes, ensuring clear ownership and SLAs across internal teams and third-party partners
- Validate fixes and oversee re-testing and regression testing to maintain solution quality
- Design and lead the UAT strategy, partnering with Training, Change, and Operations to identify participants, develop role- and scenario-based scripts, and coordinate execution and sign-off
- Provide executive-level reporting on testing progress, coverage, defect trends, risk areas, and overall readiness
- Escalate risks, issues, and recommendations to program leadership and governance forums
- Define testing standards, templates, and reusable assets to support current and future rollout waves
- Drive continuous improvement in testing effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency while ensuring compliance with healthcare privacy, security, and regulatory requirements
What You’ll Bring
- 10+ years of experience leading QA or testing efforts for large-scale enterprise or healthcare system implementations
- Prior experience with EHR or clinical systems
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional, multi-workstream testing programs
- Deep expertise in configuration testing, integrated testing, UAT, and defect management
- Experience working with third-party vendors and system integrators
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate risk, readiness, and quality metrics
- Demonstrated strength in risk management, governance support, and decision enablement in high-impact transformation programs
