Carex is partnering with a biopharmaceutical industry partner to hire a Automation Engineer to support process control system projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing automation systems, including programming, hardware, and supporting network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical leadership, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
What You’ll Do

Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and SCADA systems to support pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Lead automation design and programming projects of simple to moderate complexity; collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely project delivery.

Define scope and deliverables for large-scale automation projects and provide oversight of contracted system integrators.

Maintain and update technical documentation, including electrical and network drawings.

Develop and maintain SOPs related to process control system administration and change management.

Execute system administration tasks including backups and software patching according to schedule.

Provide advanced troubleshooting support for process control systems and collaborate with maintenance and IS&I teams.

Administer and maintain process control network infrastructure in partnership with IS&I.

Manage system lifecycle by assessing hardware/software needs and leading upgrades.

Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements, including cGMP and GAMP standards.

Serve as the main point of contact for Plant Operations and IS&I regarding automation needs and issues.

Participate in audit support activities and perform additional duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or a related field.

8+ years of experience in an Automation Engineering role.

Advanced expertise in PLC and SCADA programming.

Strong understanding of cGMP and GAMP automation requirements.

Excellent communication and project management skills.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SIEMENS control systems, including STEP 7, WinCC, and Process Historian.

Previous work experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with process control instrumentation and network infrastructure.

Knowledge of FDA compliance standards.
