Carex is partnering with a Banking industry partner to hire a Compliance Specialist.  This role is hybrid in Madison, WI.  Fully On-site or 6 months with a transition to 3-days on-site and 2 work from home days.

Summary
The Compliance Specialist will serve as the primary contact for providing compliance expertise across all operational areas through collaboration and communication with departments. This role is responsible for preparing and delivering internal compliance training, conducting internal compliance audits, and serving as the main contact for external auditors and examiners within their area of expertise. The Compliance Specialist will also contribute to the development and implementation of new bank-wide initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide accurate and timely compliance guidance to associates at all organizational levels.

  • Build trust through collaboration with business units on compliance efforts.

  • Conduct routine monitoring, prepare reports, and coordinate resolution efforts with department managers to address process, procedure, or training gaps.

  • Develop, deliver, and maintain compliance training programs and resources to ensure employees receive position-specific compliance education.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures; work with stakeholders to update and implement changes as needed.

  • Assist in ensuring new products and services comply with applicable regulations prior to implementation.

  • Stay informed on new and pending laws and regulations, assessing their impact and ensuring ongoing compliance.

  • Participate in compliance exams and audits, respond to information requests, and assist in issue resolution.

  • Review advertising, promotional materials, and bank documents for regulatory compliance.

  • Manage and monitor the compliance email inbox.

  • Actively participate in required training programs, seminars, conferences, and internal committees.

What You’ll Bring

  • Associate’s degree, post-secondary education, or equivalent experience.

  • 3-5 years of related work experience or equivalent education and experience combination.

  • Strong initiative and ability to perform responsibilities independently.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey ideas clearly and professionally.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, evaluate, and implement solutions.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience.

  • Preferred: Knowledge of Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program development and tracking.
