Carex is partnering with a Healthcare industry partner to identify a Technical Project Manager to lead the Integrations Workstream within a large-scale EHR Transition Program. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering all integration activities required to connect a new EHR platform with upstream and downstream clinical, financial, and operational systems. The Technical Project Manager will serve as the central point of coordination across clinical, IT, vendor, and operational teams to ensure reliable, secure, and seamless data exchange throughout the enterprise.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end project management for the Integrations Workstream, including scope definition, detailed workplans, risk and issue management, and executive-level status reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate integrations using HL7, FHIR, APIs, and file-based interfaces connecting the EHR to lab systems, pharmacy, billing, patient portals, and third-party vendors.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive integration inventories, interface tracking logs, and testing matrices to ensure complete coverage of all integration touchpoints.
  • Facilitate interface discovery and design sessions with department leaders, IT architects, and vendor integration teams to identify dependencies and technical requirements.
  • Oversee interface build, testing, validation, and go-live activation in close partnership with the EHR vendor, with a strong preference for athenahealth environments.
  • Collaborate with Data Conversion, Clinical Informatics, and Infrastructure workstreams to manage and resolve cross-functional integration dependencies.
  • Manage third-party integration vendors, ensuring adherence to timelines, SLAs, and quality standards.
  • Develop integration go-live readiness checklists, cutover plans, runbooks, and hypercare support models.
  • Track, triage, and resolve interface defects identified during SIT, UAT, parallel testing, and post–go-live support.
  • Provide clear dashboards, progress updates, and escalation reporting to program leadership and governance committees.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience managing integrations across multiple enterprise-scale EHR migrations or implementations, with at least three large-scale EHR transitions completed.
  • Five or more years of technical project management experience in healthcare IT, with a strong emphasis on EHR integrations.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 v2.x, HL7 FHIR (R4), CDA, and RESTful APIs.
  • Hands-on experience working with interface engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Iguana, or Azure Integration Services.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-vendor integration environments with 50 or more active interfaces.
  • Experience developing and executing integration testing strategies, including SIT, UAT, regression, and parallel testing.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Athenahealth (athenaOne) integration experience, including familiarity with APIs, documentation, and vendor coordination processes, strongly preferred.
  • Experience integrating from source systems such as AMD, Epic, Cerner, NextGen, or eClinicalWorks preferred.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
