Carex is partnering with a global manufacturing partner to find a skilled Project Engineer – Electrification who will play a key role in developing BEV powertrain, high-voltage (HV) battery, and control solutions. This position will collaborate closely with the NGDV BEV team to manage requirements, calibrate control systems, and oversee integration and validation of advanced electric vehicle technologies.
This is a 6mo contract role with potential for extension. Role is onsite in Warren, MI.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop powertrain and HV system requirements and validation plans for BEV systems, including e-propulsion, HV battery systems, HV harnesses and distribution systems, HV auxiliary systems, and BEV thermal management systems.
  • Lead control system integration for electric powertrain components such as the Drive Unit, HV battery, and Vehicle Control Module.
  • Develop and manage BEV control system features, collaborating with hardware, software, architecture, and safety teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Design detailed control interfaces, communication topologies, and E/E interfaces for powertrain components and vehicle integration.
  • Support control system test plan development and system-level function verification for electric vehicles.
  • Lead cross-functional development efforts, ensuring timely issue escalation and resolution.
  • Participate in architectural, control software, system integration, and validation discussions to represent the BEV function area and develop technical solutions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive control systems or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electric vehicle or electrical propulsion systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
  • Proven technical expertise in BEV powertrain systems, electrified propulsion, and HV Li-ion batteries.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems design, CAN networks, and real-time control systems.
  • Proficiency with control and calibration tools for automotive systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
