Carex is partnering with an industry leading consumer goods partner as they add an Engineer Supervisor to their growing Product and Textile Engineering Team. This role will focus on leading a team of engineers as well as supporting product development and innovation. This is a hybrid on-site opportunity based at their Middleton, WI headquarters.

Summary
The Engineering Supervisor leads the Product and Textile Engineering Team, managing the design, development, testing, and support of both new and existing products across multiple product categories and engineering disciplines. These disciplines include mechanical, electrical, software, motorization, test, and textile engineering. This role involves developing strategic processes and tools to drive efficiency, managing schedules, quantifying risks, and accelerating product development. Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication are key to driving growth and continuous improvement, enhancing value for the company and its customers through improved product quality, reliability, and user experience. The scope of product responsibilities includes both branded and private label products across residential and commercial markets.
What You’ll Do
New Product Development (75%)
- Collaborate with Product Management to design, develop, and introduce new product concepts and major enhancements that differentiate the company in the market.
- Provide innovative and experienced leadership for a multidisciplinary team, including mechanical, product, electrical, software, test, and textile engineering functions.
- Ensure compliance with Stage-Gate and Technical Review (TR) processes, while pursuing opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Evaluate proposals, hire, and supervise external design and engineering firms against project schedules, budgets, and design criteria.
- Interface with legal teams to manage disclosure and patent documentation, product safety, liability issues, and related legal activities.
- Drive productivity, quality, and organizational efficiency through continuous improvements.
Department Leadership (25%)
- Foster a collaborative, highly engaged team environment, serving as an inspirational leader, coach, and mentor to the engineering team.
- Embrace and demonstrate the Best Experience philosophy through VOA measurement and Action Plan improvement initiatives.
- Manage performance, development, and strategic personnel decisions for team members.
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities, defining priorities and resources for projects in alignment with business strategies and goals.

- Prepare, control, and monitor departmental capital and operating budgets.
- Prepare and present reports, summaries, and presentations related to engineering activities.
- Represent the company in industrial and technical organizations.
- Act as a change-agent to implement advanced processes and best practices in product development.
What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of product development experience in a high production environment.
- 3+ years of people management experience, with a proven ability to lead teams through change.
- Experience in consumer goods/consumer durables manufacturing is required.
- Experience with customized product development is a plus.
