Carex is partnering with a financial industry partner to hire an Enterprise Cloud Engineer who will lead the strategy, design, and implementation of cloud solutions that align with business objectives and industry standards. This role is responsible for developing scalable, secure, and compliant cloud environments, while serving as a key advisor across IT teams to drive best practices, automation, and modernization efforts. This is a direct hire role and hybrid onsite in the Greater Madison (WI) area.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, communicate, and regularly update a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with business goals and industry standards.

  • Implement and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments that ensure high availability and meet compliance requirements.

  • Establish and manage automation tools and DevOps practices to streamline deployments and increase system reliability.

  • Operate a Cloud Center of Excellence, providing governance, mentorship, and best practices to IT teams.

  • Design and deploy cloud services and architectures using infrastructure-as-code to ensure repeatability and operational control.

  • Architect cloud environments with redundancy and tested disaster recovery strategies to support business continuity.

  • Support cross-functional teams with expert guidance on modern application design and cloud technology adoption.

  • Efficiently resolve critical incidents and disruptions, integrating lessons learned into ongoing improvement.

  • Ensure cloud environments meet or exceed compliance standards such as FFIEC and NCUA to mitigate risk.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering or a combination of relevant experience, education, and certification.

  • Preferred cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Strong technical expertise in cloud architecture, IAM, networking, automation, and DevOps tooling.

  • Solid understanding of application architecture, API integrations, and security design.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, and O365.

  • Experience in cloud cost monitoring and optimization strategies aligned with FinOps practices.

  • Familiarity with IAM tools like Entra ID, Okta, and SAML providers.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage and educate stakeholders across all levels.

  • Demonstrated experience managing cloud vendors and leading digital transformation initiatives.
