Carex is partnering with a Health Technology organization to find an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in Python, MongoDB, and data orchestration tools. This role is essential for developing and managing robust data pipelines that extract and process data from hospital EHR systems, supporting AI-driven healthcare applications. This role is hybrid with one week per month required to be onsite in Palo Alto, CA.
What You’ll Do:
- Data Pipeline Construction: Build and optimize scalable data pipelines for the efficient extraction, transformation, and loading of healthcare data.
- Healthcare Data Handling: Manage sensitive healthcare data in adherence to FHIR, HL7 standards, and Epic clarity extracts, ensuring compliance with data regulations.
- Data Orchestration: Utilize Airflow or similar tools to manage complex workflows necessary for processing healthcare data at scale.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists and backend developers to integrate and maintain data systems across the organization.
- Innovative Problem-Solving: Apply your technical expertise to address unique challenges in the healthcare sector, contributing to solutions that enhance patient care.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data engineering, with proficiency in Python and MongoDB.
- Extensive experience in building and managing data pipelines using healthcare data from hospital EHR systems, with a strong focus on FIHR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards
- Demonstrated experience with data lakes, ensuring robust and scalable data storage solutions.
- Highly Preferred: Expertise in the Azure technology stack, experience with data quality management and validation, knowledge of anomaly and outlier detection techniques, proficiency in querying massive datasets using Spark, and experience in building and maintaining RESTful Web Services.
