Carex is partnering with a BioTech industry partner to hire a Histotechnologist II based onsite in Phoenix AZ.
Summary
We are seeking a Histotechnologist II to join a CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology laboratory team. This role will perform a variety of histology laboratory procedures to produce tissue slides and support critical lab operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in histology, pathology, and molecular processes, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
What You’ll Do

Perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, fixation, and H&E staining for fresh frozen (FF) and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples.

Prepare and execute DNA/RNA extraction procedures according to SOPs.

Accession patient samples into the laboratory information system (LIS), ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.

File, store, and maintain slides and FFPE blocks in accordance with SOPs.

Conduct quality review of incoming specimens and assist with tumor estimate procedures.

Operate, maintain, and document use of histology equipment, including microscopes, microtomes, and staining instruments.

Perform microdissection of unstained slides in accordance with pathologist-provided markings.

Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls while maintaining quality documentation.

Monitor and manage histology workflow queues, ensuring timely and high-quality processing.

Collaborate with pathologists and lab staff to meet turnaround time requirements.

Assist in training team members and provide technical guidance as needed.

Participate in equipment maintenance, calibration, and reagent management.

Support compliance with Quality Management System requirements and safety procedures.

Perform routine and non-routine histology procedures with minimal supervision.
What You’ll Bring

Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program with 4+ years of laboratory experience (one year may count from program completion), or

Associate degree in a scientific field with 4+ years of laboratory experience, or
-
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field with 2+ years of laboratory experience.

Demonstrated experience with histology laboratory processes and equipment.

Ability to perform repetitive laboratory techniques requiring fine motor skills and near vision.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Basic computer proficiency including email and internet navigation.

Ability to work designated schedule, with flexibility for nights, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications

Active ASCP Board of Certification (e.g., HT ASCP, HLT ASCP).
