Carex is thrilled to partner with a BioTech Company, to help find a talented Histotechnologist II to join their growing Histology team in Phoenix, AZ. This role plays a key part in producing high-quality tissue slides and supporting laboratory workflows in a CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology environment—all contributing to Exact Sciences’ mission of providing clarity and improving cancer care.

What You’ll Do
The Histotechnologist II performs a broad range of histology procedures while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality standards, and laboratory SOPs. Responsibilities include:
Tissue Processing & Slide Preparation

Perform routine FFPE and fresh frozen (FF) sectioning, processing, and H&E staining following established procedures.

Label FFPE blocks, slides, microcentrifuge tubes, and documentation with complete accuracy.

Prepare and process samples for DNA/RNA extraction per SOPs.

Conduct microdissection of unstained slides based on provided stained slide markings.
Sample Accessioning & Data Management

Accession and label incoming samples in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Enter and maintain accurate data in the Information Management System (IMS).

Assist in initial quality review of incoming specimens.

File, organize, and store FFPE blocks and slides.
Equipment Maintenance & Quality Control

Perform routine and non-routine histology procedures with minimal supervision.

Maintain instruments, equipment, QC logs, and preventative maintenance records.

Prepare reagents, controls, and solutions per lab guidelines.
Team & Cross-Functional Support

Partner with pathologists and laboratory teams to ensure timely, high-quality processing.

Assist in training team members and providing technical support as needed.

Support sample returns, reagent handling, and supply management.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience pathways:

Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program + 3+ years laboratory experience
(one year may come from program completion) -
High School Diploma + 5+ years laboratory experience

Associate Degree in a scientific field + 3+ years laboratory experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field + 1+ year laboratory experience
Additional requirements:

Basic computer proficiency (email, web navigation).

Ability to perform essential job duties with or without accommodation.

Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications

Active ASCP Board of Certification (HT ASCP, HLT ASCP).

Prior experience in a high-volume clinical or pathology environment.

Experience working with LIMS systems and automated instrumentation.
