Carex is partnering with a behavioral health treatment center to hire a local Human Resources Generalist based in San Martin, California and growing into responsibilities at two nearby locations as well. This is an on-site position. This role is designed to ensure compliance, improve employee relations, and foster a positive workplace culture. As an individual contributor, the HR Generalist will be a strategic partner to leadership, focusing on policy development, employee retention, and compliance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Compliance & Employee Relations: Ensure all practices align with California employment laws. Handle employee relations issues, including investigations and conflict resolution. To excel in this role, the candidate should bring a high aptitude for problem-solving and implementing effective policies and procedures.
  • HRIS & ATS Management: Bring a tech-savvy aptitude and utilize HRIS and ATS systems effectively for managing offers, onboarding, and employee data.
  • Partnering with Leadership: Work closely with leadership to drive cultural change and improve workplace morale.
  • Travel & Multi-site Support: Primarily based in San Martin, with travel to 2 additional locations approximately once a month.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and support organizational goals.
  • KPI Development & Monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Change Management: Act as a change agent to support the organization through transitions and improvements.
  • Support for Program & Clinical Directors: Assist in recruitment and support of new program and clinical directors.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Industry Experience: 2-3 years of experience within a mental health or healthcare multi-site center
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, or related field.
  • Certification: SHRM certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience with a strong understanding of California employment law.
    • Experience in employee relations, especially in handling complex cases.
    • Multi-site HR management experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to act as a culture champion and change agent.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
