Carex is partnering with a global manufacturing partner to hire a Layout Designer for an onsite (Oshkosh, WI), project-based opportunity. This position runs through March 30, 2026, with the potential for extension based on project needs. 

Summary

As a Layout Designer, you will support engineering teams by developing and updating technical drawings using CAD tools. This role focuses on 2D and 3D modeling, Bill of Materials (BOM) creation, and maintaining standards in alignment with engineering specifications and compliance requirements. You’ll be expected to work collaboratively in a team environment while also showing initiative and leadership in project execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Update existing technical drawings based on engineering markups and re-master to current CAD formats.

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D layouts using Creo CAD systems under engineering direction.

  • Conduct thorough self-checks to ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with CAD standards.

  • Create and modify part numbers within ERP systems using standardized naming conventions.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers to generate accurate BOMs and ensure deliverables meet quality expectations.

  • Apply Model-Based Definition (MBD) principles, particularly in automotive and aerospace contexts.

  • Follow defense/government program requirements and handle CAD data within compliance standards.

  • Participate actively in team discussions, providing leadership when needed and contributing to continuous learning.

What You’ll Bring

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent, with at least 2 years of drafting/design experience.

  • Proficiency in Creo CAD and Windchill systems.

  • Experience in Model-Based Definition (MBD) applications in Auto and Aero environments.

  • Familiarity with defense or government project environments.

  • CAD card clearance or eligibility.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, team collaboration, and willingness to lead or learn as needed.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.

  • Proficiency with standard office tools including Microsoft Office and SharePoint.

  • Preferred but not required: GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Certification.
