We're looking for a passionate Microbiology Technologist to join the San Diego, CA team:
– 2nd shift, Monday – Friday from 3:30pm – 12:00am, with alternating weekends
– Microbiology generalist role
– 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience with some being within microbiology.
What You'll Do:
The Microbiology Technologist performs routine medical laboratory tests essential for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, and will include aspects such as:
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment.
- Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
- Analyze, gather and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs and narratives.
- Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
- May examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.
- Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
What You'll Bring:
- BS in Public Health Microbiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory, or a similar science degree.
- At least 1 year of Clinical lab experience, with some of that being within Microbiology.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS – CA License), Microbiology Technologist (MTE – CA license), or Public Health in Microbiology (PHM) is required.
- Ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
- Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems is a plus.
The compensation for this position is anticipated to be between $60.00 – $70.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and certifications.

We're looking for passionate Technologists to join the largest health care diagnostic company in the world. This role is a 3+ month contract and provides exceptional experience with a well-known and admired global company! The position is 2nd shift and is Monday – Friday from 3:30pm – 12:00am with rotating weekends (40 hours total each week). Candidates must have CLS license / licensed by CA.
What You'll Do:
The Clinical Laboratory Team is seeking an experienced Technologist to help improve patient health and deliver quality laboratory services.
The Technologist conducts qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses within a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory that includes:
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
What You'll Bring:
- BS in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a related degree, and able to meet CLIA and state requirements.
- At least 1 year of experience in a Clinical Laboratory.
- CLS Certification / Licensed by the state of California.
- MTE and PHM Certification also accepted.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus.
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Som flexibility to work overtime on occasion or other shifts depending on business needs.
The hourly compensation for this position is anticipated to be approximately $25.00 – $29.00 per hour.
