Carex is partnering with a Manufacturing and Services industry partner to hire a detail-oriented and collaborative Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll processing across the U.S. and Canada. This role is part of a fast-paced, global payroll team and plays a key role in ensuring payroll compliance, managing third-party vendor relationships, and providing exceptional employee support.

Pay:  $25-27/hr
Duration:  6 months with possibility of extension
Location:  Hybrid, in Lake Forest, CA office T,W,TH

What You’ll Do

  • Accurately process payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees using Excel, GPS/SuccessFactors, and external payroll vendors.

  • Review and manage employee lifecycle changes each pay period, including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.

  • Administer special payroll activities such as garnishments, loans, and off-cycle payments.

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and company policies, including timely and correct payroll tax filing.

  • Support payroll tax reporting and documentation, and assist in research related to tax compliance and accounting discrepancies.

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues efficiently and professionally.

  • Generate and distribute payroll reports to Finance and other stakeholders.

  • Stay informed on evolving tax regulations and payroll best practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Payroll, Accounting, Human Resources, or Finance.

  • 2+ years of direct experience in payroll tax reporting and compliance.

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience for both salaried and hourly employees.

  • Strong working knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS (e.g., Dayforce, Workday, SuccessFactors, Talent Works).

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a professional role with exposure to cloud-based payroll systems and outsourced services.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

  • Strong attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

  • Comfortable in a hybrid global team setting with a fast-paced workflow.
