Carex is partnering with partner in the insurance industry to hire a Quality Engineer (Contract) who will support the delivery of reliable, high-quality technology solutions across enterprise applications and insurance systems. This role is focused on hands-on manual testing execution, defect identification, regression testing, and validation of Property & Casualty insurance system functionality. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a passion for software quality within Agile or hybrid SDLC environments.
What You’ll Do
- Execute manual testing activities including test case creation, execution, defect identification, documentation, and validation of fixes.
- Support automated testing initiatives through the creation, maintenance, and execution of automated test cases where applicable.
- Validate Property & Casualty insurance policy and configuration changes including coverage, eligibility rules, endorsements, underwriting criteria, and policy lifecycle events.
- Validate insurance product rate changes and premium calculations across multiple business scenarios to ensure compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, Development, and Business Analysis teams to validate requirements and ensure accurate system functionality.
- Analyze testing outcomes, troubleshoot issues, and clearly document defects, risks, and recommendations.
- Perform regression testing activities across multiple environments and stages of the SDLC.
- Investigate, recreate, and retest reported defects to support Development and Production Support teams through issue resolution.
- Support development projects by contributing to system testing efforts and identifying quality risks and process improvement opportunities.
- Communicate testing progress, status updates, and quality concerns to project stakeholders and technical teams.
- Contribute to QA process improvements, testing standards, and quality assurance best practices.
- Validate system integrations, data transformations, rating outputs, and business rule calculations using SQL and other testing tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to test plans, test results, defects, and testing procedures.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and security standards.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of Quality Assurance, software testing, or Quality Engineering experience preferred.
- Property & Casualty insurance industry experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with policy lifecycle events, underwriting rules, premium calculations, and rate validation processes.
- Experience supporting testing activities within Agile/Scrum or hybrid SDLC environments.
- Strong experience with manual testing methodologies and regression testing processes.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks and practices preferred.
- Familiarity with testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, TestIM, or similar platforms preferred.
- Experience using SQL to validate data transformations, integrations, and rating outputs.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to understand complex system workflows and analyze detailed technical behavior.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate testing results, risks, and recommendations.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, quality, and operational effectiveness.
