Carex is partnering with an insurance company to identify a Senior Cloud Engineer who will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure with a primary focus on AWS. This individual will lead efforts related to cloud security, infrastructure resiliency, and cloud-native solution delivery while troubleshooting complex technical issues across cloud environments. The Senior Cloud Engineer will also collaborate closely with development and governance teams, contribute to secure and scalable platform design, and provide coaching and mentorship to team members. This role operates with minimal supervision and requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to modern cloud and DevOps practices.
What You’ll Do

Design and implement cloud infrastructure and cloud-based solutions.

Analyze business requirements and define technical specifications and standards.

Deploy and oversee implementation and integration of web-based applications while ensuring information security standards are met.

Manage cloud security processes and maintain reports, logs, and records related to security audits.

Monitor system uptime and performance, and troubleshoot and resolve cloud-based issues.

Stay current on emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their value to business operations.

Partner with development teams to provide guidance on secure coding, architecture, and technical oversight.

Lead disaster recovery efforts and regularly test recovery procedures to support business continuity across cloud-based systems.

Work with governance teams to implement automated processes and standard methodologies for cloud policies, roles, and identity management.

Provide coaching and mentoring across the team.

Participate in selecting cloud hosting patterns and implementing consumable platforms with security, resiliency, infrastructure as code, and DevOps best practices built in.

Minimum of 5 years of cloud experience required.

Minimum of 3 years of AWS cloud platform experience required.

Minimum of 2 years of infrastructure as code (IaC) experience preferred.

Experience working in an Agile environment preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

Higher-level cloud certifications required, such as AWS Solutions Architect.
