Carex is partnering with a Financial/Insurance industry partner to find a seasoned and strategic Senior Communications Consultant to support executive-level communications with a strong focus on leadership alignment, employee engagement, and external messaging. This role is ideal for a highly experienced communications strategist with a proven ability to build and execute integrated communication plans that amplify executive voice and influence across both internal and external audiences. Candidates must be based in the Madison, WI area, or within reasonable driving distance.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that support the voice, vision, and priorities of senior executives.

  • Craft compelling messaging and content for diverse audiences, including employees, stakeholders, partners, and external constituents.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and communications partner to executive leadership, providing strategic guidance, editorial support, and delivery coaching.

  • Lead communications efforts during crisis or high-impact situations, ensuring consistency, clarity, and timely delivery across all channels.

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including IT, HR, Marketing, and Corporate Communications, to ensure alignment across messaging platforms.

  • Design and implement communications plans that enhance executive visibility and strengthen leadership narratives in technical and enterprise contexts.

  • Support the planning and development of town halls, leadership updates, media briefings, and organizational change communications.

  • Maintain an awareness of audience needs and feedback, adjusting strategies as necessary to optimize reach and impact.

  • Ensure tone, voice, and messaging are consistent with organizational brand standards and cultural values.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of experience in executive communications, strategic communications, or corporate affairs.

  • Demonstrated success in building and executing communication plans that support executive leadership and enterprise initiatives.

  • Experience navigating crisis communications with calm, clarity, and responsiveness.

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to advise and influence senior leaders.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into accessible content.

  • Preferred: Experience supporting a Chief Information Officer or communicating on behalf of highly technical business areas.

  • Strategic thinker with a high level of discretion, judgment, and attention to detail.
