Carex is partnering with a manufacturing industry partner to hire a Senior Payroll Specialist in Green Bay, WI. This role is ideal for someone who brings deep payroll expertise, thrives on precision, and is energized by improving systems and ensuring compliance. The Senior Payroll Specialist will oversee payroll functions for a large, multi-state employee base, serving as the subject matter expert while driving process enhancements and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
What You’ll Do

Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including timekeeping, new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and compensation changes

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations

Provide backup support for processing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for over 5,000 employees across multiple locations

Prepare and file payroll tax returns and support year-end reporting, including W-2s

Balance payroll-related general ledger accounts

Document and communicate payroll processes and procedures across the organization

Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries, including deductions and garnishments

Maintain payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements

Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure data integrity and alignment

Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation

Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies

Train and mentor Payroll Specialists as needed
What You’ll Bring

5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 1 year in a senior or lead capacity

Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements

Proficiency in payroll software; UKG experience preferred

Advanced Excel skills with exceptional attention to detail

High level of integrity in handling sensitive and confidential data

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Effective communication and interpersonal abilities

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred

Experience with multi-state payroll processing

Familiarity with UKG systems and integrations is a plus
