Carex is partnering with a Manufacturing industry partner to hire a Senior Manufacturing Project Engineer located in the United States with occasional support for operations in Mexico. This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of process equipment solutions related to new product introductions, manufacturing footprint expansion, automation initiatives, and sustaining engineering activities. The position plays a key role in aligning manufacturing capabilities with strategic business goals while ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality across operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify operational needs and develop equipment design and commissioning plans for automation and process improvements across U.S. and MX facilities.

  • Plan, specify, procure, and deliver key capital equipment, including commissioning, training, maintenance programs, and spare parts.

  • Drive execution of automation strategies by identifying and managing vendors/resources aligned to reduce manual content in product lines.

  • Integrate quality-at-the-source and error-proofing solutions, including poka-yoke methodologies.

  • Design and implement tools for TPM and OEE data collection to track and enhance equipment performance and reliability.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement safety, quality, and productivity improvements through Kaizen and problem-solving initiatives.

  • Lead cost reduction measures through strategic equipment and process optimizations.

  • Develop and standardize best practices and engineering processes for continuity across facilities.

  • Specify and develop equipment to support internalization of supplier-purchased components.

  • Manage the relocation, refurbishment, and commissioning of equipment as part of manufacturing footprint initiatives.

  • Coordinate detailed project plans using structured project management tools, reporting progress and risk to senior leadership.

  • Align engineering initiatives with capital budgeting processes and develop project plans to meet priorities.

  • Build and develop engineering talent through structured development plans and rotational opportunities.

  • Interface regularly with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and senior leaders to ensure alignment and progress.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in specifying and implementing process equipment and automation.

  • 2+ years of experience leading and developing technical personnel.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing process improvement methodologies such as TPM and OEE.

  • Strong background in Lean or Six Sigma principles (certification preferred).

  • Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and equipment control systems (PLC, PAC, HMI, ProWorx).

  • Demonstrated ability to implement equipment safety systems including guarding, interlocks, and LOTO procedures.

  • Effective communicator with experience presenting to senior leadership.

  • Expertise in DFM, 3P design activities, PFMEA, job hazard analysis, and ergonomic assessments.

  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects under tight timelines with strong attention to detail and stakeholder collaboration.
