Carex is partnering with a global manufacturing partner to hire a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for a full-time, onsite role located at the Global Technology Center in Oshkosh, WI. This position offers a hybrid model with a minimum of three days onsite and two days remote. U.S. citizenship is required.
Summary
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical components and systems within advanced vehicle platforms such as the FMTV A2, MFPR, and HGWS programs. This role demands cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, and experience with defense-related or heavy vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical systems, C++ and Python, and have a demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do

Lead mechanical design and integration efforts for complex vehicle systems, ensuring function, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Conduct engineering calculations, analysis, and documentation for vehicle components.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external vendors to manage technical requirements and project execution.

Support system integration and validation efforts, including hands-on testing and troubleshooting.

Utilize CAD tools (Creole, PTC) and engineering software (Windchill, Microsoft Office) to develop and manage designs and documentation.

Interface with external suppliers and stakeholders to align designs with technical and program goals.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Contribute to decision-making processes and offer solutions to technical challenges across programs.

Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining design standards.

Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations in support of ongoing programs.
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 3 years of engineering experience.

Proficiency in C++ and Python programming.

Familiarity with Creole, PTC, Windchill, and Microsoft Office.

Experience with mobility systems, hydraulics, frame design, or electro-mechanical integration.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across technical teams and external partners.

Demonstrated experience in heavy vehicle systems, preferably with exposure to defense platforms or related industries.

Ability to evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
