Carex is partnering with a National Architectural firm to find a skilled IT Systems Engineer to support enterprise infrastructure and application environments. This role plays a vital part in implementing, managing, and optimizing Windows server technologies while enhancing networked systems and software deployment practices. This can be a fully remote project with a flexible/part-time schedule (~20-24 hours per week).
What You’ll Do
- Install, configure, test, upgrade, and maintain Windows server hardware and software systems with an emphasis on security, reliability, and documentation.
- Oversee and optimize Hyper-V environments for efficient server virtualization.
- Manage IP-based computing devices across a TCP/IP network and troubleshoot networked systems effectively.
- Assist in researching and implementing Windows server-based technologies aligned with the organization’s technology goals.
- Utilize and manage automated software deployment systems such as WSUS, MDT, PDQ Deploy, and SCCM to streamline operations.
- Apply scripting and automation using PowerShell and BASH for system administration and process automation.
- Maintain and apply Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for effective policy control and system configuration management.
What You’ll Bring
- 3–5 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, as well as standard desktop tools in professional environments.
- Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting devices in a TCP/IP networked environment.
- Proficiency with software deployment tools such as WSUS, MDT, PDQ Deploy, SCCM, or similar platforms.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages like PowerShell and BASH, along with automation methods and GPO administration.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Windows 10, and Adobe publishing/design applications preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, with a proactive and methodical approach to systems management and technical problem-solving.
