Carex is partnering with an Information Security Network partner in Middleton, WI. They are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join their Information Security Network team to help drive the organization to the next level. Our flexible work environment presents a unique security opportunity to work with a team and organization that presents endless potential to evaluate, test, and deploy secure solutions into their environment. You will work closely with Engineering and Application counterparts to implement Network and Security policies to support the production needs of the Business.

What You'll Do

Service Delivery – 40%

  • Provide leadership to deploy, monitor, test and tune network security devices and systems to provide optimal security and performance.
  • Support and deploy network routing and switching hardware and software in accordance with established network policies.
  • Design and deploy state-of-the-art technology to meet the business needs and interface with business units regarding technical planning and network issues.
  • In coordination with the Architects, develop security migration plans, research solutions to security technical issues, and provide security technical leadership and guidance during the engineering design and build phase.
  • Provide automation scripts that help identify issues on a regular basis.
  • Utilize best practices and risk tolerance frameworks.
  • Perform system testing and recommend remediation efforts for system vulnerabilities.

Operational Delivery – 30%

  • Monitor network and security controls, audit devices, and detect for possible security incidents.
  • Monitor for network performance, potential threats, identification of trends, and assessment of system vulnerabilities and performance.
  • Work with the Architect to investigate current cybersecurity threats and provide IT leadership with timely communication updates.
  • Assist with infrastructure and application security architecture design and implement solutions to difficult engineering and security problems.
  • Drive the use of security tools to analyze, assess, and prioritize resolution based on the potential impact.
  • Assist in developing enterprise security solutions to meet business goals and support IT counterparts around the globe.
  • Work with teammates and the larger security community to maintain and improve security tools that align and facilitate modern security best practices.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures.

Organizational Growth – 30%

  • Plan, research, design, and implement elements of information security hardware and software technologies.
  • Research, recommend, and develop security and risk mitigation solutions.
  • Prepare documentation, including department policies and procedures, business notifications, and security alerts.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum Associate's degree in CS or equivalent, Bachelor's preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with a combination of functional technical experience with aspects of major enterprise business systems and related technologies.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with Cisco Route Switch and ASA or other enterprise firewalls is required.
  • Next-generation firewall management, monitoring, event management/remediation (Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, or equivalent).
  • Cisco routing/switching knowledge at least at the CCNP level (with or without the certification).
  • A history of designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, troubleshooting, and debugging networks.
  • Must have experience in at least 10 of the following:
    • Azure networking and security.
    • Cisco and Palo Alto Firewall experience.
    • Cisco Routing and Switching.
    • Cisco ISE.
    • Cisco Umbrella or OpenDNS.
    • Endpoint Security with EDR capabilities (Cisco AMP, MS Defender, etc.).
    • Experience working with Windows and Nix systems.
    • LDAPS, SAML, RADIUS, and TACACS+ authentication methods.
    • Microsoft Active Directory (AD).
    • PowerShell and/or Python scripting.
    • Public key infrastructure.
    • Security certification (Security+, CCNA Security/Cyber Ops, GSEC, CISSP, etc).
    • Security incident response.
    • Security Logging / SIEM.
    • Service Management Processes.
    • VPN Administration (S2S and Remote Access).
    • Wireshark and other tools for TCP/IP packet capture analysis.


  • Ability to perform risk assessments across multiple global business units and systems.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Possesses a developed knowledge of general business processes/operations.
  • Ability to communicate clear deliverables and timelines for projects.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with business stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to proficiently translate business questions or problems into adaptive reporting solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying degrees of responsibility; must have effective time management and delegation skills.
  • Must be able to analyze complex data, and situations and develop a range of solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on being able to manage different personality styles and cultural differentiation are required.
