The compensation for this position is anticipated to be approximately $145,000 – $218,000 annually, dependent upon experience. Full benefits are included. If the range doesn't align with your needs, please still apply! 

What You'll Do:

The General Manager – Australia will be instrumental in driving the growth strategy for Australia that includes aligning with growing market needs, fostering innovation, and building a high-performance team. A robust background and education in the life sciences, and experience as a General Manager or similar role leading a business unit within the Genomics, Proteomics, Cell Analysis or Molecular Diagnostics fields is key to success within this role.

What You'll Do:

Growth Strategy:

  • Define, establish, and implement short, medium, and long-range objectives to drive revenue growth aligned with market potential.
  • Develop action plans and tactics for direct sales force, distributors, and collaborations.

Market Alignment:

  • Collaborate globally and directly with the CEO to ensure Australian market needs are addressed and business plans align with global strategies.

Innovation & Collaboration:

  • Identify business initiatives for collaboration, technology introduction, and acquisition.
  • Provide comprehensive market segment opportunities and competitor information in the life science research market in Australia.

Market Intelligence:

  • Establish feedback mechanisms to monitor competitive trends, customer dynamics, and technology trends.
  • Provide timely feedback to corporate functions for strategic initiatives and direction.

Team Development:

  • Foster a high-performance team culture and enhance staff skills and performance.

Sales & Marketing Plans:

  • Collaborate with segment leaders to develop and implement effective local sales and marketing strategies.
  • Evaluate results against plans for continuous improvement.

Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, and strategic partners to support strategic initiatives and increase market share.

Technical Support:

  • Develop technical sales support to reinforce the company's reputation as an innovation leader in Australia.
  • Utilize headquarters teams to augment branch activity.

Branch Leadership:

  • Oversee branch operations, set vision and goals, and ensure alignment with global strategies.

Channel Optimization

  • Manage sales channels to support marketing strategies and maximize revenue growth.

Financial Oversight:

  • Approve and review sales targets, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Provide executive summaries of financial performance and adjust strategies as necessary.

Corporate Connectivity:

  • Enhance team integration with corporate headquarters and support company-wide initiatives.

Global Engagement:

  • Identify opportunities, develop strategies, and engage with clients at a global level.
  • Interact with decision-makers at multiple management levels in organizations.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life science, or equivalent experience required.
  • Demonstrated track record of 15 or more years’ experience in business unit management and at least 5 of those years with full P&L responsibilities and running multiple departments.
  • Strong market segment knowledge and understanding of Genomics, Proteomics, Cell Analysis, Molecular Diagnostics and new markets.
  • Executes sound judgment, analyzes issues, thinks strategically, creatively, and uses innovative ideas.
  • Proven experience marketing both new technologies or products, and more mature established products.
  • Strong strategic and tactical marketing, marketing communications, market research, product management, distribution channels, competitive intelligence, and customer relationship management.
  • Good knowledge of existing and emerging marketplace distribution channels and how to creatively employ them for competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrated communication skills for multiple audiences via multiple media, including shifting communication style, rapid synthesis for executive communication, and analytical communication for detail-oriented audiences. Exceptional public speaking skills needed to represent corporation at external meetings, conferences and organizations. Able to present high level information based on analysis and facts.

Ideal (but not required) Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree M.S., Ph.D., or MBA Preferred.
  • Prior experience as a general manager.
  • Experience managing a business portfolio with multi-million+ and diverse products.
